For those arriving by train

Grand Hotel Minerva’s guests arriving on Eurostar, Frecciarossa or Italo high speed trains to and from Milan, Rome and Venice, and other cities of Italy, arrive at Florence’s main station, Santa Maria Novella, and can easily walk to the hotel from there.

For those arriving by air

By air to Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport: guests may take a shuttle bus that runs to Florence’s city center (in about 30 minutes). Taxis are also available (about 15 minutes, approximate costs: 20-25 euros). For private transportation options, see the on line concierge section.

By air to Pisa’s Galileo Galilei International Airport: we suggest taking a direct train to Florence’s Santa Maria Novella Station. For private transportation options, see the online concierge section.

For those arriving by car

Though Piazza Santa Maria Novella is a pedestrian zone, our guests can drive right up to the entrance. The information in many navigation systems is not up-to-date and the direction of traffic is subject to change. We recommend that you use the map provided on our site, downloading it right before you come! Our staff is always ready to help and provide further information (tel. +39055 27230). We will arrange for your car to be parked in our partner garage and issue a temporary, retroactive permit for access to the historic town center. There is no need to reserve a space or provide a registration number in advance. Parking costs €30 per night (€40 for SUVs, sports or luxury cars) and includes a valet parking service. Your car will be delivered to you about 15-20 minutes after you request it.

From Firenze Nord / Ovest (A1 / A11) highway

  • Exit at ‘Firenze Nord’ and follow the signs to the Center / Railway Station (Centro / Stazione ferroviaria SMN).
  • At the end of Viale Redi, take Viale Belfiore (look for large white building on the right) and cross it to take Via Guido Monaco, which is across it to the left after the traffic light
  • Turn left onto Viale Strozzi (going under a bridge) and continue on Viale Lavagnini. Turn right onto Via Santa Caterina D’Alessandria which becomes Via Nazionale (see map)
  • Come to the large roundabout in Piazza Stazione in front of the station and take it around to Via Panzani (you will see the Grand Hotel Baglioni on the left)
  • Continue, passing Via del Giglio on the left and turn onto Via dei Banchi, making a sharp turn
  • Continue all the way down Via dei Banchi and enter Piazza Santa Maria Novella, driving around it counter-clockwise and very slowly (pedestrian zone)
  • You may park your car in front of the hotel while you unload your luggage

From Firenze Sud (A1)

  • Exit at ‘Firenze Sud’ and follow the signs to the Center / Railway Station (Centro / Stazione ferroviaria SMN).
  • In Piazza della Libertà take Via Lorenzo Il Magnifico (signed to the station) and turn left onto Via Poliziano. Continue straight, crossing the avenue and entering Via Santa Caterina D’Alessandria which becomes Via Nazionale (see map)
  • Come to the large roundabout in Piazza Stazione in front of the station and take it around to Via Panzani (you will see the Grand Hotel Baglioni on the left)
  • Continue, passing Via del Giglio on the left and turn onto Via dei Banchi, making a sharp turn
  • Continue all of the way down Via dei Banchi and enter Piazza Santa Maria Novella, driving around it counter-clockwise and very slowly (pedestrian zone)

Access to Florence’s historic town center is monitored by video cameras and is permitted only to authorized vehicles, which include the vehicles of guests staying at hotels located in the traffic restricted area (Zona a Traffico Limitato - ZTL).

Authorization for the registration number is obtained online and must be done within two hours of crossing the video camera points. Notification of the registration number is handled by our staff for our guests at no expense.

Our guests are authorized to drive within the ZTL only when arriving at and leaving the hotel. Notification of the registration number is also required for vehicles even if they are not parked in our partner garage. The permit is valid for a single access, and notification of the registration number is required each time you return to the hotel through the ZTL. Failure to provide the notification will result in a fine.

Cars may be driven up to the hotel entrance but may not be parked in Piazza Santa Maria Novella or in the surrounding area. Guests who do not stay overnight but use of our conference or restaurant services, for example, may drive up to the hotel. However, to obtain authorization for access to the ZTL, their cars must be parked in our partner garage.
