Grand Hotel Minerva is a historic boutique hotel in one of Florence's finest squares, Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Set right between the church of Santa Maria Novella and the new “Museo del 900” museum, our hotel enjoys a perfect location. We are right by the central station — where a stream of high speed trains come in from Rome, Milan, and Venice — as well as all of Florence's major tourist attractions.
Our square was recently renovated and pedestrianized, graced with an elegant, completely fresh look. In the middle of the square is a lawn edged by fragrant, many-colored roses, and restaurants and cafes are on every side.
In the spring and summer, our vibrant square becomes a stage for street artists, jugglers, and craft markets. You can enjoy this quintessentially Italian entertainment and festive atmosphere even from your rooms overlooking the square — sound-proofed, of course, to give you the rest you need when you need it.
Though the square is a pedestrian zone, you are allowed to come to our hotel by car. Our valet service will take care of taking it to our nearby partner garage.
We are so close to all the major tourist sites that you can have something of an "orientation tour" right from our roof terrace, affording a sweeping view of all of Florence.
Grand Hotel Minerva’s guests arriving on Eurostar, Frecciarossa or Italo high speed trains to and from Milan, Rome and Venice, and other cities of Italy, arrive at Florence’s main station, Santa Maria Novella, and can easily walk to the hotel from there.
By air to Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport: guests may take the new overground to Florence’s city center (Unità station in about 15 minutes and then a two minute walk). Taxis are also available (about 15 minutes, approximate costs: 20-25 euros). For private transportation options, see our concierge page.
By air to Pisa’s Galileo Galilei International Airport: we suggest taking a direct train to Florence’s Santa Maria Novella Station. For private transportation options, see our concierge pages.
Though Piazza Santa Maria Novella is a pedestrian zone, our guests can drive right up to the entrance. The information in many navigation systems is not up-to-date and the direction of traffic is subject to change. We recommend that you use the map provided on our site, downloading it right before you come! Our staff is always ready to help and provide further information (tel. +39055 27230). We will arrange for your car to be parked in our partner garage and issue a temporary, retroactive permit for access to the historic town center. There is no need to reserve a space or provide a registration number in advance. Parking costs €30 per night (€40 for SUVs, sports or luxury cars) and includes a valet parking service. Your car will be delivered to you about 15-20 minutes after you request it.
